R. Gregory Christie is a three-time recipient of the Coretta Scott King Honor for illustration. Two of his books — Only Passing Through and Stars in the Darkness — were picked by The New York Times for its Best Illustrated Children's Books list. He has also illustrated numerous jazz album covers, and is a regular contributor to The New Yorker. He earned a B.F.A. in media arts from the School of Visual Arts.
