Sojourner Marable Grimmett is a
committed public affairs professional with a unique focus on grassroots
community initiatives and social media engagement. Sojourner joined National
Church Residences in April 2017 as the Director of External Affairs, Atlanta
Region. Her job includes work in external affairs, communications, marketing,
media relations, public policy, and fundraising. Sojourner is a compassionate
community organizer. Before working for National Church Residences,
Sojourner held positions at Fulton County Government, Morehouse College,
the Southern Regional Education Board, and the Savannah College of Art and
Design. Her ability to engage online users to enact social change has made
her one of Atlanta’s most sought after social media influencers. Sojourner has
had several successes such as co-leading the implementation of lactation pods
at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, spearheading President
Barack Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper Fulton County program, organizing effective
crime and safety summits, leading fundraising campaign efforts for local
charities, and supporting state legislation to improve voting rights. Sojourner
is a New Leaders Council Atlanta and Harvard University AmeriCorps/VISTA alum,
and currently serves on the Board of Directors for Fulton Atlanta Community
Action Authority. She is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., and
the National Council of Negro Women Greater Atlanta Section. Some of her more
recent accolades include being named 2018 Outstanding Atlanta, Georgia Trend's 40 Under 40, BMW's "Pay It 4Ward" Honoree in
2017, CentricTV and Upscale Magazine's Woman to Watch in 2016, and Atlanta
Business Chronicle's 40 Under 40 in 2015. Sojourner is a frequent guest blogger
for the Huffington Post and professional speaker. She holds a Bachelor of Arts
in Mass Media Arts from Clark Atlanta University and a Master of Arts in Media
