Soul Food Junkies: Film Screening for the Southwest Community

Join Cascade Civic Alliance, BLKHLTH, and the Southwest Atlanta community in a FREE film screening of "Soul Food Junkies" - a documentary about the history of soul food in African-American culture.

The evening will also include: 1) A townhall discussion on nutrition, health, and food justice in Southwest Atlanta. 2) A healthy food cooking demonstration.

Atlanta Hawks and Grady Hospital to Launch New Baby Club Program

The Hawks and Grady Hospital Unveil Exclusive Baby Club “Welcome” Kits for All Born at New Women’s Center on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Grady Hospital, Women’s Center 80 Jesse Hill Jr. Drive SE, Atlanta, GA  30303. Featured speakers will include: Dr. Jackie Herd – Chief Nursing Officer, Grady Health System, Steve Koonin – CEO, Atlanta Hawks and Philips Ariana, Taurean Prince – Forward, Atlanta Hawks, and Ryan Cameron – V103 On-Air Host and Atlanta Hawks P.A. Announcer.

Grady Health System and the Atlanta Hawks will introduce a new phase in their long standing partnership with the announcement of the Hawks Baby Club. The exclusive program will present each baby born at Grady Hospital with a special “Welcome to the Club” package. The initiative also serves to highlight the recent expansion and renovation of the hospital’s Women’s Center. Dr. Herd and Koonin will offer remarks at the press conference hosted by Cameron. The Hawks Baby Club Welcome Kits will be unveiled and Hawks rookie forward Taurean Prince along with several families with children who were recently born at Grady will also be in attendance.

South Fulton Residents Invited to Have Coffee With A Cop


The Fulton County Police Department and Cascade Civic Alliance will be hosting Coffee with a Cop at the Southwest Branch Library, 3665 Cascade Road, SW, Atlanta, GA 30331 on Thursday,
January 5, 2017 from 10am to Noon.

Citizens are invited to meet with police officers over a cup of coffee, to discuss issues of concern that affect their community. Coffee with a Cop provides a unique opportunity for citizens to ask questions and learn more about the department’s
work in Fulton County.
