Although my mom is from the South, I didn't grow up eating much soul food. All of that changed when I came to Atlanta for undergraduate school. I went into a food trance and was hooked on cornbread, fried chicken, candied yams, collard greens, fried corn, and scrumptious banana pudding. The freshman 15 lbs were apparent when I went back home for winter break.
