Being properly prepared for school to be ready to learn goes a long way in shattering the cycle of homelessness. In 2014, volunteers collected 5,500 new book bags and school supplies. Last year every school-aged child living in a shelter or group home throughout the 20 county Metro Atlanta area received a brand new, filled book bag.

With your help we hope to top last year’s collection with the goal of reaching 6,000 NEW bookbags and all the school supplies needed to fill them.

Children’s Restoration Network, or CRN, was founded in 1993 to address the lack of services for children, as well as women with children, who were becoming homeless. Today the non-profit works with 130 shelters and group homes around metro Atlanta that house more than 4,000 children each year. CRN’s programs and special events are designed to alleviate the trauma and despair of being homeless. Regular services include facility improvement projects, preparing home-cooked meals, and supplying warm winter clothing.

If you cannot participate in the August 1 event you can donate online to Children’s Restoration Network. There are also additional volunteer opportunities for anyone looking to provide ongoing support to the nonprofit.

Wholly Pops Are a Sweet Treat for the Entire Family!

This week my family and I tried Wholly Pops. "What are Wholly Pops?" you ask.

Wholly Pops are 100% gluten free popsicles, and they don't have any artificial colors, flavors, stabilizers, preservatives, or fillers.

My boys fell in love with the first bite of these dairy free, sugar free, egg free, Paleo pops! (Paleo is a lifestyle in which you only eat things that can be found in nature.)

As voted: Pumpkin Paleo Cheesecake! Get some this weekend!
Compared to other pops in supermarket freezer shelves that have 70-100 calories per serving. Wholly Pops are proud to say that their lowest calorie come in at 34 calories. They get the produce direct from the farms and in less time than it takes for them to be placed on a grocery store shelf. Because they use produce that has been freshly picked, they hardly ever need to use sweeteners. Only the fructose naturally occurring in the fruits and vegetables.

At 6 months and older, you can feed your baby Wholly Pops made of fruits or vegetables you’ve already given your baby that showed no allergic reaction. The fellas in my household love these delicious popsicles!

Red, white and blue pop! So much goodness! Read the details here: http://ow.ly/K8r8m

What I especially love about these popsicles are that they are made with love and in Georgia. Learn more about these yummy Georgia Grown popsicles here: www.WhollyPops.com.

http://4hosea.org/

Atlanta, GA- On Sunday July 12, 2015 Hosea Helps will continue their summer efforts by hosting it's 11th annual Back-To-School Jamboree to take place at the Turner Field (Blue Parking Lot) from 10am - 3pm. The highly anticipated event takes place each year in an effort to provide over 1200 children in need with a backpack full of school supplies to help prepare for the upcoming school year. With the support of local media outlets and corporate sponsors such as Kanner and Pintaluga, Amerigroup, Walmart, Home Depot, and many more, Hosea Helps continues to support the community by empowering Atlanta's youth with the tools they need to be successful in school and later in life.

In addition to receiving a backpack of supplies, children will receive health screenings, clothing, fresh produce and vegetables. There will also be computers available on a first come first serve basis. " Hosea Helps is committed to ensuring that students are equipped with resources they need to fully encourage the learning process. " said Elisabeth Omilami, President and CEO of Hosea Helps. "During this year's event, we will also offer supplies to teachers in an effort to offset the hundreds of dollars they personally spend to provide the necessary supplies for their students and classrooms." The event is open to all families. Admission is free and children must be present to receive supplies. Parents are reminded to bring identification for each child.

Currently, Hosea Helps is seeking additional donations of schools supplies, such as: pencils, ink pens, notebooks, book bags, scissors, calculators, and more. A complete list of needs for this event can be found online at www.4Hosea.org. Donations can be made at 1035 Donnelly Avenue SW, Atlanta, GA 30310.
