On January 24th, a panel of activists and academics will discuss women’s involvement in the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee and other civil rights organizations. The panel will be followed by a book signing with the panelists. The event will open with a performance of excerpts from Hands on the Freedom Plow by the PVAC’s Reader’s Theater Circle from African American Student Services and Programs of Georgia State University.

- Constance Curry, retired Director of Human Services for the City of Atlanta
- Dr. Doris Derby, Director of African American Student Services and Programs at Georgia State University
- Dr. Jacqueline Rouse, Associate Professor of African American History in the Department of History and associate faculty in the African American Studies Department
- Dr. Emilye Crosby, Professor of History and Coordinator of Africana/ Black Studies at SUNY Geneseo and Visiting Scholar at the James Weldon Johnson Institute
The panel will be moderated by Dr. Beverly Guy-Sheftall, Professor of Women’s Studies at Spelman College.
