Size 8, But Size 10 is Comfy

I want to hop back into a size 8 so badly that I'm telling people I wear a size 8. I can wear an 8, but a 10 is more comfy. I can breathe. With our first child, I lost 70 pounds in one year and after our second baby, I'm rocking the scale between 145-153 lbs. I declare, each week the scale is either my friend or worst enemy.

I wrote about my experience losing weight in an article for The Suburban Woman Paper entitled, “Getting Rid of the Baby Weight.” My advice is to do your best and stay on course. It takes some time getting used to the routine, but after a couple of weeks, you will start working out unconsciously and may even enjoy it. In the article, I shared these simple tips that did wonders for my mind and body after both pregnancies.

My Helpful Tips:

  • While on maternity leave, I exercised a few times per week by pushing the stroller around the neighborhood. This let me get our son out, enjoy some fresh air, and lose those extra pounds.
  • After the birth of our second son, the boys and I crashed at my in-laws for a week-and-a-half. I developed a workout routine with my mother-in-law and grandmother-in-law. Sweating to the oldies is a lot of fun!
  • I always took the stairs instead of the elevator and parked my car furthest away from the entrance.
  • When I returned back to work, I exercised regularly during lunchtime in the gym. I found it helpful to have a workout partner to motivate me to leave my desk and hit the gym.

I am married to a man who is supportive about how I look. "Babe, as long as you're happy, then I'm happy." When I want to workout, he encourages me to get down with him and do sit-ups. Toning at my age is important, so I'm going to stay in the "swing of things," even if it means taking up dance classes in my living room again.

  1. Great tips! I have struggled with my weight for quite some time especially since I have had my son. I do agree just walking around the neighborhood can do so much for some extra weight loss.
